As a long time follower of Michelle fan, I was super excited to hear about the launch of her new makeup line and even more excited when I got the opportunity to try out 3 of her products, which I will be reviewing today.
I received the following three items for review:
- Shade Play Artistic Eye Color Palette in Montego Bay Teals
- Shade Play Artistic Cheek Palette in Coral Temptations
- Pillow Plush Cushiony Lip Balm in Bubblegum
Shade Play Artistic Eye Color Palette in Montego Bay Teals
First, we have the Shade Play Artistic Eye Color Palette in Montego Bay Teals. The palette contains six beautiful shadows that work very well together. There are three different sizes of shadows, three small pans, two medium size pans and one large pan. I have this palette in Montego Bay Teals and I absolutely love the color selection in this palette. All of the shades work very well with one another to create a plethora of beautiful looks. I find all of the shades to be soft in texture with the exception of the large pan. It has a little gritty feel to it but it has wonderful pigmentation. I found the shades easy to work with and they all blended beautifully on my lids. Out of all three items, this would have to be my favorite. The only thing I did not care for about this palette was the included two brushes. I felt like it was a wasted space. Almost no one ever uses this mini size brushes that companies often include in their palettes. I would have much rather seen larger size pans or a few more colors included instead.
Shade Play Artistic Cheek Palette in Coral Temptations
Next, we have the Shade Play Artistic Cheek Color Palette ($28 USD), a nice little bronzer and blush duo set. I have the Coral temptations palette, which comes with a beautiful coral blush and a coordinating shimmer bronzer. Both the blush and bronzer are soft in texture and have nice pigmentation. Coral blushes are my favorite shades to wear on my cheeks and I really love the look of this one on me. I really like the idea of having a bronzer and blush palette together like this; however, I would much rather have seen a matter bronzer instead of a shimmer one. I typically only use a bronzer (matte) to contour my face unless its summer time and I am going for a bronzed look. Had it been a matte bronzer, I could have seen myself using this duo on a regular basis. If you like shimmery bronzers then this is a great little palette.
Pillow Plush Cushiony Lip Balm in Bubblegum
Lastly, we have the Pillow Plush Cushiony Lip Balm in Bubblegum. I really like the packaging of this lip balm, mainly because of the ‘resin bump’ sphere shape it has. I have to admit though, I much rather have a lip balm that does not require me to dip my fingers in it, or require the use of a lip brush. For that reason, I much prefer to use this lip balm at home and not on the go. I find that this has a slightly vanilla scent to it that is not overpowering and disappears once on the lip for a few minutes. I found the balm to be very sheer, yet hydrating. I also found the texture to be thick and tacky but very moisturizing on my lips. Overall, I like this balm for moisturizing my lips and find it works best for me to leave it on my bedside table and apply before bed.
Eye Look I created
Overall, I really love the packaging and look of the em products. Both the blush and eye palette had a soft texture (with the exception of the large pan from the eye palette) and nice pigmentation. All of the shades complemented each other and blended nicely on the skin. I would have preferred to see a matte bronzer in the blush palette and no mini size brushes in either palette. The lip balm was very moisturizing on the lips but I didn’t like that I had to apply it with my fingers or a lip brush.
